About The Position

Position Summary: The Barista / Cashier is part of The Lantern Columbia's morning team that starts a guest's day off on a happy note. The Barista / Cashier will set up the work and guest areas, make all coffees, enter the breakfast orders into the Point of Sale system, serve the guests all the while keeping the guest area (lobby) inviting and clean. Requirements

  • Minimum High school diploma, Certificate of Completion, GED or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a barista, food runner, or busser is great but not required.
  • We hire for heart, we'll train for the technical stuff.
  • Experience in hotels, restaurants, or related fields in customer service always great, but not a deal breaker.
  • Certifications as required by Federal, State, or Local agencies like ServSafe, (but if not, we'll provide the opportunity for you to become certified).

Responsibilities

  • Greet guests, provide expert information on all breakfast offerings.
  • Maintains pastry display, counter top, storage, and front of house areas in a clean and presentable manner at all times.
  • Prepare and present all breakfast items, including coffees, using standard recipes and kitchen equipment.
  • Bring breakfast items that originate in the kitchen to the guests in a timely and friendly manner.
  • Accurately post all transactions into the POS, close all tickets.
  • Engage guests throughout their visit in a friendly and caring manner; try to remember names.
  • Assists guests with requests as appropriate.
  • Complies with all health and safety regulations.
  • Really important to be a great teammate.
