About The Position

The Bariatric Coordinator at Novant Health plays a crucial role in the development and management of the metabolic and bariatric surgery center. This position focuses on ensuring compliance with accreditation standards, patient education, data collection, and quality improvement efforts, all while prioritizing patient safety. The coordinator acts as a liaison between the facility and surgeons, facilitating communication and documentation related to surgical coverage and patient care.

Requirements

• 2 Year / Associate Degree required; 4 Year / Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Minimum of three years experience in bariatric nursing and caring for bariatric patients required.
• Minimum of one year in surgical monitoring preferred.
• Licensure as RN, RD, or other licensed health care professional required.
• General knowledge of the entire continuum of care for bariatric surgical patients.

Responsibilities

• Assist in center development and manage the accreditation process.
• Ensure continuous compliance with MBSAQIP requirements.
• Maintain relevant policies and procedures related to bariatric surgery.
• Educate patients about the bariatric surgery process and care.
• Collect outcomes data and support quality improvement efforts.
• Educate relevant staff on patient safety and critical response protocols.
• Serve as a liaison between the facility and surgeons performing bariatric surgery.
• Maintain documentation of the call schedule for covering surgeons.
• Work closely with the MBS Clinical Reviewer for accurate data collection.
