About The Position

The purpose of this position is to operate equipment associated with the barge loading/unloading process. Operators in this position are primarily responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the barge unloading area, with minimal supervision. Operators in this position will train and be able to perform duties to load/unload all soy products into barges, railroad cars, and trucks. They will ensure that the equipment is fully operational and in good repair. Interacts on a regular basis with customers, plant operators, supervisors, or other personnel.

Requirements

• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to understand and communicate in English (verbal/written).
• High School diploma or Equivalent.
• Basic computer skills.
• Ability to perform physical job duties which may include bending, lifting up to +50lbs, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely, with or without a reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc., with the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) including a respirator.
• Ability to work in elevated areas (4 feet and above).
• Must be able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment.
• Ability to work overtime including weekends, holidays, or different shifts with advance notice.

Nice To Haves

• Forklift certified.
• Prior experience in production related work.

Responsibilities

• Operate all equipment associated with the barge unloading process, including drags and conveyors.
• Use a ladder to climb walls that reach a height of approximately 6 feet while working on the barge.
• Operate computer programs needed to load/unload barges, railroad cars, trucks, and skid steer.
• Hand write tickets or use Stand Alone Scale Interface (SASI) if the computer network goes down.
• Train and operate equipment associated with the Elevator process, including drags, conveyors, and truck dump.
• Load meal, oil, and hull products into barges, railroad cars, and trucks.
• Ensure accurate information of scale weights and transactions are recorded daily.
• Process samples utilizing lab equipment to obtain and record values on a computer spreadsheet and collect and analyze samples for several process areas.
• Obtain Shoreside Attendant Certification for loading oil barges.
• Enter confined spaces under proper permit conditions and supervision, including dust collectors, barges, and bean tanks.
• Perform light maintenance, such as replacing valves, troubleshooting conveyors and pumps, etc.
• Maintain a safe and sanitary atmosphere with a high regard for the environmental impact of the operation.
• Understand and adhere to state and federal Occupational Safety and Health rules and regulations as related to plant safety.
• Follow all Cargill safety rules and regulations.
• Complete all housekeeping assignments, work to improve the condition of all departments, and work as a team member with a positive attitude.
• Attend various mandatory safety and department meetings.
• Communicate in a courteous and positive manner to accomplish duties effectively, working as a team with all involved.
• Assist other crush and plant personnel as needed, and perform any other duty as requested by the production supervisor.
