About The Position

Atalco Gramercy Operations is the leading producer of Alumina in the United States. Our Gramercy refinery produces 1.2 million tons a year of smelter grade alumina (SGA) for the production of aluminum as well as chemical grade alumina (CGA) which is used in a wide array of industrial applications. We are currently seeking a Barge Deckhand Loader for our Gramercy, LA refinery. Job Objective/Summary This job is primarily responsible for working at Atalco loading barges. This is a general position which will perform a wide variety of duties based on the daily needs of the operation.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Physical demands of this position include the ability to:
Lift/push/pull 45 pounds or more
Climb, crouch, stoop, bend, and squat frequently
Stand and walk constantly/continuously
Balance constantly/continuously
Kneel occasionally
Safely walk on barge surfaces with the ability to work around deep water
Understand and communicate verbally, both in person and via two-way radio
Understand and communicate written instructions
Work outside in extreme weather conditions
Climb stairs and ladders to significant heights
Work in an environment with high dust levels
Meet requirements of PFT and fit testing when applicable
Meet requirements of and utilize PPE at all times
Distinguish, with a degree of accuracy, differences or similarities in intensity or quality odors, or recognizing odors, using nose
Ability and willingness to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and/or alternate shifts as needed
