About The Position

The Barback position at InterContinental Boston is essential for providing fast and courteous service of food and beverages to guests. Requirements

• Ability to be on your feet most of the day with lots of bending and kneeling.
• Strength to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50lbs (23 kg).
• Good grasp of reading, writing, and basic math skills.
• Flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts.
• Experience in preparing a wide range of drinks, ideally with formal bartending training.
• Compliance with local laws on food handling and serving alcohol, and fluency in the local language.
• Excellent communication skills, being warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to.

Responsibilities

• Assist bartenders and servers in providing fast and courteous service of food and beverage to guests.
• Stock bar area with liquor, beer, wine, non-alcoholic drinks, ice, and supplies following established procedures.
• Replenish supplies as needed throughout the shift.
• Assist Bartender in the preparation of garnishes and mixes.
• Set-up and replenish appetizer or buffet when applicable.
• Separate dirty china, glassware, and silver and deliver to kitchen for cleaning.
• Perform set-up and closing side work assignments such as making coffee and folding napkins.
• Stock service station or pantry with napkins, placemats, condiments, etc.
• Transport linens to and from laundry as required.
• Fill water glasses, serve non-alcoholic beverages, and assist servers by delivering items to guest tables.
• Perform other duties as assigned, including bar duties.
• Always follow safety procedures.
