About The Position

The Bar Director at One Haus in NYC is responsible for overseeing the operations of four full-service bars, driving company bar initiatives, and ensuring compliance with legal and health standards. This role involves managing the bar and cocktail program, developing new menu items, and working directly with staff during service. The Bar Director will also collaborate with the Director of Operations and other stakeholders to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Extremely creative with the ability to build cocktail menus from scratch.
  • Understanding of beverage control, inventory management, and cost controls.
  • Comprehension of budgets and financial management for the department.
  • In-depth knowledge of produce seasonality and connections with local purveyors.
  • Ability to adapt to market trends and customer preferences.
  • TIPS & Food Handlers certification required.
  • Ability to work during peak hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to foster a culture of education and teamwork.
  • Physical ability to stand and walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to perform repetitive bending, stooping, twisting, and lifting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the management of four full-service bars and the cocktail program.
  • Enforce adherence to company policies, health protocols, and safety standards.
  • Supervise day-to-day shift activities and staff operations.
  • Ensure staff are properly trained and equipped for their roles.
  • Maintain company standards for service quality, cleanliness, and beverage quality.
  • Assist with service operations before and during shifts.
  • Support the Chef with menu adjustments and education.
  • Create and develop new cocktail menu items and specialty products.
  • Partner with stakeholders on company initiatives and vendor relations.
  • Ensure accurate entry of recipes and beverage costs in the POS system.
  • Schedule bar staff efficiently under the supervision of the General Manager.
  • Work with the People Manager on hiring and training staff.
  • Uphold liquor control policies and maintain accurate records of vendor transactions.
  • Ensure clear communication among bar staff and manage inventory provisioning.
  • Manage maintenance and repairs of bar equipment and infrastructure.
  • Develop corrective action plans and manage customer complaints.
  • Assist in planning and executing events to maximize revenue.
  • Oversee bar and liquor inventory, invoices, and product procurement.
  • Manage department expenses to meet budget objectives.
  • Conduct departmental meetings and staff performance reviews.
  • Ensure the bar program aligns with the company's vision and ethos.
  • Supervise staffing levels to meet operational needs and financial objectives.
  • Implement beverage policies and ensure compliance with beverage laws.
  • Maintain food handling and sanitation standards.
