About The Position

At Tierra Sur, the renowned dining establishment of Herzog Wine Cellars, we cultivate a dynamic and inspiring environment where tradition and passion converge to create exceptional wines and deliver an extraordinary culinary experience. The Bar Cook is responsible for preparing and executing bar menu items with consistency and attention to detail. This role supports the Wine Tasting Room service by producing high-quality small plates while maintaining kitchen standards for cleanliness, organization, and food safety.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred; Culinary Arts degree or related field preferred
  • Minimum of six (6) months of experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant or food preparation environment
  • Basic knife skills and working knowledge of kitchen equipment
  • Ability to operate the following kitchen equipment in a safe and proper manner: stoves, grills, fryers, and other utensils
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and coworkers
  • Ability to follow instructions carefully, with a strong emphasis on safety
  • Capacity to work efficiently under pressure during busy service periods
  • Flexibility to shift priorities and adapt to changing kitchen demands
  • Physical ability to stand for extended periods and safely operate kitchen equipment

  • Culinary Arts degree or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook bar menu items according to established recipes and presentation standards
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of orders during high-volume service
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked workstation at the bar food station
  • Monitor food quality, freshness, and portion control
  • Assist with daily prep work, including cutting, portioning, and organizing ingredients
  • Follow proper food handling, storage, and sanitation procedures
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service
  • Assist with inventory control and notify management of any shortages or waste
  • Adhere to all company policies, health regulations, and safety standards
