About The Position

A new, full-service icehouse is opening soon in the vibrant Pearl District, nestled beneath Texas’ signature live oaks alongside the San Antonio River. Otto's Ice House, brought to you by an iconic Texas hospitality company, will offer friendly service, classic Southern bites with a Texas twist, and live music on the outdoor patio. As a Bar Back: You support bartenders in all aspects of operating a smooth running and profitable bar. You understand the value of great service and provide it consistently to Guests in a timely, courteous, efficient, and accurate manner. You always keep your workstation clean and sanitary, showing pride in your work.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must have a TABC and Food Handlers certification before employment begins
• Must display exceptional customer service and communication skills
• POS (cash register) and credit or debit card processing skills
• Excellent verbal communication skills
• Punctual and reliable attendance is required
• Must be well-groomed and professionally dressed following uniform standards
• Must have attention for detail, and a passion for serving Guests
• Positive and professional attitude in every aspect of the position
• Physical requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods of time; capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs.; ability to bend, reach, and perform repetitive motions during shifts.

Responsibilities

• Stock the bar with all necessities including condiments, straws, rags, and beverage napkins, etc
• Maintain full ice binds and bar cleanliness
• Restock beer and help change kegs
• Bus glassware and dirty plates on top of and around the bar area
• Maintain cleanliness inside and outside of the bar, around the bar, and bar stools
• Wash glassware and restock as needed
• Help bartender maintain service
• Run bus tubs back to the kitchen and replace them with new ones
• Make margarita mix for margarita machine
• Cut fruit and garnishes for drinks
• Maintain proper stock of juice, liquor, beer, and wine
• Clear bar area of used dishes, glasses, and silverware and re-sets between customers
• Follow safety and sanitation rules and practices
• Perform any other duties specified by manager and/or your bartender
