About The Position

The Barback keeps the bar running smoothly. You’ll set up and break down stations, restock product and ice, maintain cleanliness and glassware, change kegs, and support bartenders so guests get fast, consistent service. Key Responsibilities Setup & Breakdown: Stock bars before service (spirits, beer/wine, mixers, juices, garnishes, glassware, tools, napkins/straws); reset and clean at close. Restocking & Runner: Refill ice, juices, syrups, garnishes, beer/wine, and backup product throughout the shift; run product from storage to the line quickly. Glassware & Dish Support: Collect, wash, polish, and stock glassware to par; minimize breakage and ensure spotless presentation. Cleanliness & Sanitation: Keep bars and backbar areas clean and organized; wipe stations, sanitize tools, mop spills, remove trash, and follow closing checklists. Prep & Garnishes: Wash/slice garnishes, batch simple syrups/juices per spec; label/date and rotate (FIFO). Inventory & Counts: Help with deliveries, organization, and monthly counts; track low inventory and variances. Equipment Care: Maintain blenders, dish machines, glass washers, and refrigeration; clean ice wells and bar mats; report malfunctions. Guest Support: Greet guests when appropriate, run waters/menus, and relay requests to bartenders while upholding responsible alcohol service practices. Safety & Compliance: Follow food safety and sanitation (ServSafe/HACCP), chemical/SDS handling, and responsible alcohol policies; maintain clear egress and proper storage.

Requirements

  • Prior barback/busser or high-volume restaurant/bar experience preferred (will train reliable, fast-paced candidates).
  • Strong organization, urgency, and attention to detail; clear communication and teamwork.
  • Comfortable lifting and moving cases/kegs; able to use carts/dollies safely.
  • Basic familiarity with bar tools, glassware, and product rotation; POS awareness a plus.
  • Certifications: Food Handler and TIPS/TEAM/ServSafe Alcohol preferred (or within 30 days).
  • Flexible availability nights, weekends, and holidays; dependable and punctual.
  • Stand/walk for entire shift; frequent bending, reaching, and stair use.
  • Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50–75 lbs (kegs, cases, ice).
  • Work in fast-paced, loud environments and around cleaning chemicals (PPE provided).
