ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (These functions are intended as a general illustration of the work performed in this job classification and are not all inclusive for this position) Oversees the daily event operations, set up and take down along with food and beverage service. This includes pool bar service during pool season. Hire, coach train and mentor banquet team members to ensure that they have an opportunity to continue to improve their skills and to ensure that they are delivering excellent guest service. This includes engagement in the annual performance appraisal process. Schedules and supervises banquet team to ensure proper execution of events with a high level of guest satisfaction. Lead in a manner that creates a positive team environment. Ensure department SOPs are updated and that team members understand and are following guidelines. Partner closely with culinary team to ensure proper food preparation and timing including changes made by the client. Responsible for understanding profit and loss statements for the banquet area and making leadership decisions that are positive for the business; this includes implementing and monitoring department budget. Responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory levels of assigned restaurant/room service/banquet supplies. May works directly with group contact regarding specific requirements. Knowledgeable of all styles of banquet service and room set up. Well versed in current food and beverage trends. Attends weekly BEO meetings to review details of scheduled functions and must effectively execute the BEOs. Performs continual inspection of all areas to ensure adherence to safety and sanitation standards. Maintains inventory of banquet equipment and repair. Maintains good working relationships with members of other departments and serves as a liaison between departments Effectively resolves any guest concerns. Practice open, honest and clear communication with all team members. Tailor communication style, approach and content based on the situation and audience needs or concerns.

Requirements

  • These skills and abilities are typically acquired through a high school education or equivalent and four years’ combination of restaurant/banquet/catering experience, with a minimum of three years’ supervisory experience, or through a Bachelor’s Degree in Restaurant Management or related field and three years’ supervisory food and beverage experience.
  • Must demonstrate a strong solutions-focus approach and is comfortable working in an environment which demands strong deliverables along with the ability to identify problems and drive appropriate solutions.
  • Proven expertise with leadership coaching and development is essential for success in this role.
  • Must be able to manage a high-volume workload and work hard to get the job done.
  • Excellent guest service skills
  • Knowledge of wines and alcoholic beverages
  • Possession of, and ability to obtain and maintain a valid drivers and gaming license within assigned state of employment and other jurisdictions
  • Must successfully pass background check
  • Must successfully pass an alcohol and drug screening
  • Missouri Gaming License Required
  • Must be 21 years of age
