What you will have an opportunity to do: We are looking for someone passionate about the culinary arts to join our culinary team. This individual must be creative, motivated, and passionate about growing their talents in the kitchen! Successful candidates for this role will have previous experience working in a professional kitchen environment, with a strong desire to learn, to develop skills and work with the culinary leadership team. The Banquet Chef assists the Executive Chef in production and fabrication of food products for kitchen preparation and banquet cooking. Requirements

  • High school or GED equivalent required, formal culinary training or associate degree in culinary arts preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years cooking experience in a hotel environment or large catering/event venue.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room employees, and guests.
  • Safe Food Handling Certification.
  • Must have experience calculating figures and amounts and performing mathematical functions to meet the business needs.
  • Knowledge of the use of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Must have flexible scheduling to meet hotel demands.
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, and willing to engage guests in conversation.
  • Strong work ethic and a desire to succeed.
  • Ability to handle comments and suggestions.
  • Reliable transportation is a must.
  • Ability to lift, pull and push up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and squat, kneel and bend for short periods of time.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares, seasons, and cooks’ food for banquets.
  • Carves portions of meat, fish, or fowl for individual servings.
  • Assists with menus and estimating required food quantities, labor, and overhead costs.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Catering, and Banquet Team to ensure client happiness.
  • Attend BEO Meetings.
  • Assists in maintaining inventory.
  • Utilize and recreate recipes.
  • You will be consistent with all food preparation.
  • Minimize food waste through cross utilization.
  • You will have the opportunity to work with a world-class culinary team.
  • Create workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment.
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
  • You will be responsible for the quality of ingredients.
