The position involves setting up, serving, and breaking down banquet functions. Responsibilities include assigning work and monitoring the performance of scheduled banquet staff, providing training and corrective instructions, and alerting management of potentially serious issues. The role requires close collaboration with kitchen staff to communicate the speed of service, client numbers, and special requests. Greeting guests upon arrival and responding to guest requests and/or complaints in a prompt and professional manner is essential. The position may also involve reviewing guest checks with clients after functions and obtaining signatures. Participation in pre-function meetings and reviewing all information pertinent to service and setup of groups is required. Inspecting scheduled function areas/rooms, table setups, buffet tables, receptions, and coffee breaks for cleanliness, attractiveness, and proper layout is also part of the job. Following procedures to ensure the security and proper storage of banquet inventory and equipment, as well as minimizing misuse and breakage of supplies, is crucial. Additional duties may include handling incoming/outgoing boxes and exhibit materials.
