Overview The Banquet Captain is r esponsible for overseeing the successful execution of banquet events, including meetings, conventions, weddings, and other special functions as well as supervision of retail concessions outlets and bar service. This hands-on supervisory role ensures that all aspects of service meet or exceed guest expectations by coordinating setup, service, and breakdown while leading a team of servers and support staff. This role pays an hourly rate of $20.00-$22.00 Benefits for Part-Time roles: 401(k) Savings Plan and 401(k) matching This position will remain open until December 31, 2025.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; hospitality or culinary degree a plus.
  • 2+ years of banquet, catering, or hospitality experience, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or team lead role.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting event reports and diagrams.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.
  • English proficiency required, bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
  • Flexible schedule including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays depending on event needs.

  • TIPS or ServSafe certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate all service staff before, during, and after events.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for event organizers and clients during functions.
  • Ensure accurate setup, service and breakdown of banquet rooms, buffets and break stations per event specifications (e.g., floor plans, timelines, and menus).
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate event details and assignments to team members.
  • Maintain high standards of food and beverage service and hospitality.
  • Monitor the timing and flow of service; troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Train, coach, and mentor banquet staff; lead by example with professionalism and enthusiasm.
  • Collaborate with culinary, sales, and AV teams to ensure seamless event execution.
  • Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety of all banquet areas.
  • Complete post-event reports and provide feedback to management.
  • Enforce compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Assist with inventory, equipment maintenance, and requisitioning supplies as needed.
