As a Banquet Captain , you will play a key leadership role in ensuring seamless event execution and delivering outstanding guest service. You will oversee banquet staff, coordinate event setup and service, and create memorable experiences for our guests in a fast-paced and exciting environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of banquet or food & beverage experience, with at least one (1) year in a supervisory role preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Must be available to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must have a comprehensive knowledge of banquet operations and hotel departments.
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, state, and local health, safety, and legal regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret Banquet Event Orders (BEOs).
  • Excellent problem-solving and guest service skills.
  • High school diploma preferred; relevant training and experience required.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift/move moderate weight.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Additional language ability is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests according to StepStone and hotel standards, anticipate and personalize service to meet guests’ needs.
  • Supervise and lead banquet team members during events, ensuring service standards are met and exceeded.
  • Coordinate and oversee event setup, service, and breakdown in accordance with banquet event orders (BEOs).
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and other departments to ensure smooth event execution.
  • Inspect function rooms prior to events to ensure proper setup, cleanliness, and readiness.
  • Monitor food quality, presentation, and service timing throughout events.
  • Address guest requests and resolve any issues or complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure all staff follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
  • Assist with training and coaching banquet staff to maintain high performance standards.
  • Complete opening and closing duties, including proper handling of equipment and supplies.
  • Maintain inventory of banquet supplies and ensure proper storage.
  • Practice and observe all safety rules and procedures.
  • Assist with additional duties as requested by management.
