About The Position

The Banquet Captain supervises and coordinates activities of banquet servers during events to ensure that food is served promptly and that guests have a satisfactory experience. This role requires regular communication with the host and involves various responsibilities to maintain high standards of service and organization during banquets.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year's experience as a banquet server or banquet Captain.
• Previous supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Must have a professional attitude and appearance.
• Must have a current Food Handler's Certificate and be TIPS trained.

Responsibilities

• Supervise banquet servers and coordinate their activities during events.
• Communicate effectively with the host and staff to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Consult with the Food Services Manager regarding serving arrangements and staffing needs.
• Meet with the Chef on Duty to review banquet event orders and expectations.
• Conduct pre-event meetings with clients to review menus and itineraries.
• Anticipate customer needs and respond promptly to inquiries.
• Motivate and lead the serving staff, resolving conflicts as necessary.
• Conduct staff lineups at the start of each shift, inspecting uniforms and reviewing event details.
• Prepare Captain's Reports detailing event functions and host feedback.
• Ensure cleanliness and organization of the function space before events.
• Observe food presentation to ensure it meets standards.
• Complete closing duties and paperwork in accordance with departmental standards.
• Provide feedback on staff performance and participate in employee counseling.
• Notify management of low inventory items and assist with other duties as assigned.
