About The Position

The Banner Database Administrator 2 is responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of the Ellucian ERP system and associated databases. This role ensures the reliability, security, and optimal performance of the ERP system, enabling seamless operations for the institution's administrative and academic functions. The position requires limited supervision, is non-supervisory, and involves 24×7 on-call support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in ERP system administration, preferably with Ellucian products.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in database administration, including SQL and Oracle databases.
  • Proficiency in Oracle 19c RDBMS and Tomcat middleware.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail and timeliness of work production.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with WebLogic middleware.
  • Experience in setting up and maintaining Oracle databases.
  • Familiarity with data maintained by a higher-education ERP.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain the operation of Ellucian Banner servers to ensure performance and availability of the ERP system.
  • Perform regular system upgrades and patches to ensure security and compliance.
  • Monitor and optimize system performance, including response times and resource utilization.
  • Maintain currency for all Banner services via application of upgrades and testing by the user community.
  • Design, implement, and maintain databases associated with the Ellucian ERP system.
  • Ensure data integrity, backup, and recovery procedures are in place and regularly tested.
  • Implement and manage security protocols to protect sensitive data within the ERP system and databases.
  • Provide technical support to users, including troubleshooting system and database issues.
  • Support data integration between the Ellucian ERP system and other institutional systems.
  • Participate in projects related to system upgrades, new implementations, and other initiatives.
