SUMMARY: The Bankruptcy and Litigation Support Specialist plays a vital role within the Bankruptcy and Litigation Support Team, which is dedicated to managing the company’s bankruptcy portfolio and supporting litigation processes within centralized states. This position involves providing essential support to Central Operations while delivering exceptional service and effectively navigating the complexities of bankruptcy processes and collections litigation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED from accredited institution
  • 2-4 years operational bankruptcy and collections litigation experience
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to multi-task and detail oriented
  • Ability to deal effectively with peers, co-workers, managers, and staff personnel
  • Working knowledge of Pacer, Lexis Nexis, and Chapter 13 Trustee Websites
  • Proficient with Microsoft Windows, Excel, Word, and Outlook applications

Nice To Haves

  • Federal bankruptcy knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree and Paralegal Certificate or equivalent experience

Responsibilities

  • Operates the company’s Bankruptcy Toll-Free line; handling inquiries and concerns, asking for clarification to deal with each inquiry or concern promptly, and accurately to resolve customer questions, or transferring callers to appropriate parties for assistance
  • Efficiently and accurately handles system related “help desk” tickets
  • Collaborate with attorneys and branch ops regarding post-judgment collections
  • Review court docket and case information via electronic case monitoring to promptly determine when attorney action is required and refer to local counsel as necessary
  • Receive and review daily bankruptcy file conducting account maintenance on customer accounts
  • Administer account flagging and coding identifiers of legal accounts in centralized litigation states following Lendmark policies and procedures
  • Prepare and file Proof of Claims or Reaffirmations with the bankruptcy courts
  • Recommendation to manager regarding lift of stays or other bankrupt functions as needed
  • Identify and refer accounts for repossession that meet company guidelines, Federal Bankruptcy laws, and account to appropriate CAA entitlement
  • Thoroughly review and analyze bankruptcy documents and work with attorneys to meet deadlines
  • Review charged-off legal accounts to validate legal flag, confirm judgments and identify garnishment opportunities
  • Receipt, review and submit bankruptcy and attorney remittances for processing
  • Other duties as assigned
