About The Position

HERS Advisors have partnered with a boutique litigation law firm who have a need for an experienced Bankruptcy Litigation Secretary to work in their Downtown, Los Angeles, California office (hybrid) . Responsibilities for Bankruptcy Litigation Secretary : Drafts and formats correspondence, briefs, and other legal documents. Filing of legal documents timely and accurately with state and federal courts (e-filing knowledge a must). Maintain attorney calendars through Outlook and Milana (the firm's court docketing software (i.e. scheduling appointments, calendaring due dates, etc.). Prepare and process engagement letters and new file opening memos. Maintains and follows up on attorney client deadlines and calendars appointments through the electronic calendaring and docketing systems. Complete expense reimbursements in a timely manner. Reviewing and ensuring accuracy of vendor invoices; prepare accurate check requests and timely submit invoices for payment to client or accounting.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma required.
  • 5+ years’ experience as a litigation secretary handling commercial litigation is required.
  • Bankruptcy experience is required.
  • Strong computer proficiency using Pacer, ECF, iManage or document management system, Aderant, Litera, MS Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel).
  • Demonstrated knowledge of legal terminology, legal documents, and legal processes in the Litigation Department, including the ability to mark and generate a table of contents and table of authorities.
