About The Position

The Banking Services Line Manager III - Commercial Collateral Management is responsible for managing assigned teams within one or more functional areas of Commercial Lending Operations. This role involves overseeing daily activities and ongoing strategic planning of one or more units, ensuring quality standards are maintained in accordance with Bank, Division, and Department policy. The position requires managing 20+ FTEs or fewer employees without direct reports if covering diverse disciplines and/or complex functions.

Requirements

  • A combined minimum of 9 years of higher education and relevant work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years' work leadership, supervisory, and/or managerial experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Prior experience using tact and diplomacy.
  • Strong knowledge of pertinent spreadsheet, word processing, and presentation software.

  • Call center and/or financial services operations experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of departmental systems, documents, and procedures.
  • Proven experience to motivate a team and handle conflict without alienating others.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily activities and ongoing strategic planning of one or more units within Commercial Lending Operations.
  • Ensure quality standards are maintained in accordance with Bank, Division, and Department policy.
  • Direct and monitor activities of assigned staff to ensure compliance with organizational and departmental policies and external regulations.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, feedback, and training to staff.
  • Coordinate compilation of month-end data for unit activities for management decision-making.
  • Interact routinely with Division/Department management to establish business objectives.
  • Evaluate unit processes, procedures, and policies and approve changes to increase operational efficiency.
  • Maintain established service levels within assigned units and address escalations.
  • Exercise authority concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, and terminations.
  • Design, implement, maintain, and enhance internal controls to mitigate risk.
  • Identify risk-related issues needing escalation to management.
  • Promote an environment that supports belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and issues raised by regulators.
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
