About The Position

The Banking Associate position offers a comprehensive, immersive experience for graduates seeking practical knowledge and skills in the banking industry. The Banking Associate will be exposed to various leaders and aspects of the line of business and will complete tasks that help them understand day-to-day bank operations and develop a well-rounded skill set. Additionally, the Banking Associate will have the chance to receive guidance from experienced professionals in the field, gain valuable insights, build a solid foundation in banking practices, and potentially set the stage for future career opportunities at First Northern Bank. Essential functions: Understand banking fundamentals, including financial statement analysis, credit analysis, and commercial banking basics. Instills and upholds a customer service culture within the company that fosters retention, relationships, and loyalty Assists managers and staff with projects as assigned. Collaborates with managers, supervisors, and other senior staff. Assist with regulatory reporting, including monthly, quarterly, and annual deadlines. Answer questions in person and correspond professionally via telephone, mail, and/or e-mail. Cross-sell bank products by answering inquiries, informing customers of new services and product promotions, ascertaining customers’ needs by insightful questions and perceptive recognition of customers’ circumstances, and introducing customers to other bank personnel for additional services. Train and become efficient in many functions of the bank’s operations department. Follows all company regulations, policies, and procedures, including the Bank Secrecy Act. Follow attendance policies in compliance with the employer handbook. Maintains customer confidence and protects the bank's operations by keeping confidential information. Develop strong communication skills and become more adept in the banking environment. Actively participate in customer, community, and public relations activities to increase the bank’s visibility and enhance new business opportunities. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Knowledgeable of the core system to process documentation, loans, and accounts.
  • Attend training on bank/job-related topics.
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Candidates must be able to relate to clients and coworkers effectively
  • Candidate must always act professionally
  • Able to handle confidential information and maintain privacy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • Computer savvy: able to learn new software quickly

  • A college degree in finance, business administration, accounting, or related field.
  • Or Current students enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program of the above degrees.
  • Creative, eager to learn, motivated, and willing to take the initiative on assigned projects/tasks is a must.
