About The Position

The Loan Processor position at First Federal is an entry-level role focused on supporting the loan processing team. The incumbent will develop a thorough understanding of consumer and mortgage lending products, ensuring compliance with financial and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include organizing loan files, managing a pipeline of loans, and assisting with customer inquiries, all while adhering to company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Business Administration degree preferred.
  • 1-3 years of consumer and mortgage loan processing experience desired.
  • Knowledge of basic lending policies and procedures, including state and federal regulations.
  • Ability to operate various office equipment and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and with minimal supervision.
  • Notary Public licensing required.
  • Ability to manage confidential information and make appropriate decisions.

  • Experience with construction lending processes.
  • Familiarity with secondary marketing practices and requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and complete departmental projects and work assignments while adhering to policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Complete initial review of new loan files for proper forms, signatures, and disclosure requirements.
  • Ensure disclosures are completed within regulatory requirements and time frames.
  • Develop ability to prioritize workflow for time-sensitive deadlines.
  • Assemble loan files and complete initial document preparation.
  • Send verifications of employment and deposits and run credit reports.
  • Review verifications for errors and discrepancies.
  • Manage a pipeline of moderately complex loans in collaboration with Loan Officers and Underwriters.
  • Prepare and send pre-qualification letters and complete commitment or adverse action letters as appropriate.
  • Assemble loan files and complete tasks related to ordering required documents.
  • Send final application and associated loan documents to Borrower or Title Company for signature.
  • Prepare final loan documents for submission to Underwriter/Loan Officer and manage file to closing.
  • Prepare files for Quality Control (QC) process and resolve QC issues promptly.
  • Develop familiarity with unique documentation requirements for various loan types.
  • Assist customers and financial institutions with loan payoff requests.
  • Provide back-up support within the Loan Operations Department as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with internal and external customers and vendors.
  • Prepare correspondence related to lending processes and respond to loan applicant inquiries.
  • Participate in volunteer activities that enhance the goals of the Association.
  • Act in accordance with the highest standards of integrity and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
