About The Position

The Bander Operator is responsible for all activities related to operating the unitizer and its corresponding equipment. This includes setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to optimize the process.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Ability to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in calculating figures and amounts such as percentages, measurements, volume, and rate.
  • Ability to apply common sense to follow written, oral, or graphic instructions.
  • Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities, product layouts, production specifications, and quality standards.
  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
  • Six (6) months of experience in the Press or Finishing Department.
  • Prior work experience as a forklift operator.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Operation: Operate the unitizer and related machinery, ensuring accurate placement of bands, stretch wrap, and unit tags according to proper setup techniques. Maximize equipment utilization by operating at full capacity and speed.
  • Quality Control: Ensure all units are neat with the correct number of bands and proper stacking patterns. Verify that unit quantities are correct and pull any excess scrap from the units.
  • Documentation: Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including production data, machine operational status, safety data, and quality data.
  • Maintenance & Adherence: Turn in maintenance orders for needed repairs and be proactive in equipment upkeep. Adhere to the production schedule and make recommendations for optimization to meet cost, quality, and service goals. Report any unusual scheduling issues to the supervisor.
  • Compliance: Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and good housekeeping standards.
