Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; trade school or vocational training a plus.
• Minimum 1 year experience operating band saws or other cutting equipment in a machine shop environment.
• Familiarity with common metals and alloys used in machining.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and work instructions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
• Comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and working on your feet for extended periods.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate band saws to cut metal materials including steel, aluminum, and other alloys.
• Read and interpret job travelers, blueprints, cut lists, and mechanical drawings to determine cutting requirements.
• Measure and mark materials using calipers, micrometers, tape measures, or other precision tools.
• Select proper blades based on material type and thickness.
• Monitor saw performance and adjust feed rates, blade tension, and cutting angles as needed.
• Perform routine machine checks and basic preventative maintenance (blade changes, lubrication, cleaning).
• Ensure cut parts meet dimensional tolerances and quality standards.
