About The Position

This position involves obtaining ammunition samples and testing them for compliance to process and/or industry standards. The role operates drop testing equipment to determine sensitivity of primed components lot samples, maintains written documentation of test results, and provides timely feedback to supervisors or technicians. The Ballistics Tester is expected to follow oral and written instructions, wear protective equipment, and obey all plant and safety rules and regulations. This role supports the facility's mission, safety, and ISO goals, actively participating as a member of the Remington Team. The Kinetic Group, which includes Remington, focuses on engineering products that meet customer needs in various fields, fostering collaboration and sharing insights.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED certificate or recognized equivalent.
  • Must not be a convicted felon or otherwise restricted by law from handling or using firearms.
  • Ability to speak, read and write in the English language sufficient to: Communicate effectively with other team members and supervision; Read and comprehend process instructions; Record pertinent process information as required.
  • Ability to use and interpret gauges to measure and record product performance characteristics, weights, and dimensions.
  • Must possess basic personal computer skills sufficient to navigate menus and select, open, create, edit, save, and print basic word and spreadsheet documents.
  • To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national; (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (a/k/a green card holder); (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. Section 1157; or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. Section 1158 or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Responsibilities

  • Obtains ammunition samples and tests them for compliance to process and/or industry standards.
  • Operates drop testing equipment to determine sensitivity of primed components lot samples for compliance to process and/or industry standards.
  • Maintains written documentation of test results and provides timely feedback to supervisors or technicians as required.
  • Follows oral and written instructions, wears protective equipment where and when directed and obeys all plant and safety rules and regulations.
  • Supports the facility's mission, safety and ISO goals and directives and is an active participant of the Remington Team.
  • Works in a safe and orderly manner always.
  • Obeys plant, department and area rules and regulations and proactively encourages other team members to do so.
  • Obtains, maintains, and wears or uses all necessary safety equipment as directed by work instructions or area supervisor.
  • Attends shift, department and plant meetings in a timely manner as directed by supervisor.
  • Obtains samples of ammunition as per work instructions.
  • Coordinate with Centerfire Priming to prime drop test samples as per the process record.
  • Operates handguns, rifles and shotguns of various types, calibers, and manufactures to test various parameters of manufactured and procured ammunition.
  • Operate, set-up, change over, and adjust drop test equipment.
  • Installs, calibrates, adjusts, and operates various types of mechanical, electronic, and electromechanical test and measurement devices or systems.
  • Records and/or charts inspection results and provides timely feedback to supervisors or technicians to correct or prevent the manufacture of nonconforming products.
  • Record drop test results to database and hardcopy record.
  • Inform Leadership of pass/fail results using basic email format.
  • Record and report consumed scrap generated in all aspects of testing.
  • Maintains process integrity with proper documentation and observance of process records.
  • Always maintains a clean and orderly work area as per Work Instructions.
