Plasser American Corporation is currently seeking full time Ballast Machine Operators to operate Shoulder Ballast Cleaners and Undercutting equipment. This position travels around North America, and you do not need to live in any specific area as the company will fly you to the location of the railroad machinery. The role involves operating Plasser Shoulder Ballast Cleaners and Undercutting machines, inspecting and maintaining trucks and equipment, and ensuring safe and efficient operation in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures. The operator will also perform mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs, communicate with managers and railroad representatives, and coordinate work schedules with various stakeholders. A strong emphasis is placed on safety, customer satisfaction, and maintaining a clean workplace.

Operates Plasser Shoulder Ballast Cleaners and Undercutting machines.
Inspects and maintains trucks and equipment on a daily basis.
Operates equipment in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with regulations, policies, and procedures.
Performs daily equipment safety and maintenance checks, making emergency adjustments as necessary.
Takes actions to avoid potential hazards and obstructions.
Studies instructions, plans, and diagrams to establish work requirements.
Performs mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic repairs in the field and/or the shop.
Communicates with Plasser American Business Unit Managers and Railroad representatives on daily production, safety issues, and mechanical repairs.
Orders parts and communicates with appropriate railroad representatives.
Keeps records of material and equipment usage and problems.
Coordinates work schedules with Railroad EIC, third-party contractors, and others.
Pre-plans work activities with railroad to develop best means and methods, including safety action plans.
Documents job progress and maintains a safe and clean workplace.
Plans day-to-day operations with customers on assigned tasks.
Takes responsibility for performance as it relates to company goals, safety audits, and following company policies and procedures.
Initiates follow-up actions as necessary including training, orientation, and discipline.
Adheres to all safety training requirements and maintains a safety-first attitude.
Reviews all project documentation and plans to ensure compliance with specifications.
Models, provides education, and enforces safe work practices.
Ensures proper safety equipment is available and used by all field personnel.
Conducts daily briefings with the team to review production goals and safety.
Communicates with customers to ensure a high level of satisfaction.
Trains and motivates workers.
Performs administrative tasks such as production reports, timesheets, and inspection reports.

Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review.
Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen.
Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis.
