About The Position

We are currently looking for Baler Operator to join the Mittera family where ideas are valued, and internal mobility is promoted! In our production facilities, Baler Operator find products on shelves, wrap or package them appropriately, and place them on delivery trucks; they may also take products off of trucks and put them on shelves. Thanks to our material handlers, customer orders can be fulfilled and moved quickly.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and any other lift equipment required for the job (following appropriate training)
  • Full comprehension in reading work instructions and business memos
  • Effective communications skills with all levels within the organization
  • Ability to use basic math skills, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, measurements and critical thinking, to solve practical problems
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Must have the ability to work effectively in stressful situations and meet stringent deadlines
  • Be organized and able to plan, prioritize and follow through on projects assigned with minimal supervision
  • Has basic computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • 1 - 3 years of previous material management experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Daily inspection sheets must be completed and submitted to shipping every Monday.
  • Forklifts should be cleaned every other day.
  • Clean ram on all balers daily to ensure smooth operation.
  • Check ink levels and manage totes at the beginning of each shift.
  • Coordinate with shipping for incoming shipments daily.
  • Load trucks based on material grade (e.g., Flyleaf, Groundwood, White bale, Cardboard).
  • Remove waste from presses and feed into the shredder.
  • Stage chemical totes outside the recycling department when scheduled.
  • Dump water totes in the ink room sink per EPA guidelines.
  • Band up plates as needed behind the press
  • Assist in moving and storing non-hazardous waste as needed.
  • Notify maintenance personnel via text for any required repairs on shredders or balers.
  • Dust electrical panels and other wall-mounted items weekly.
  • Last 30 minutes of each shift should be dedicated to cleaning machines and sweeping the floor.
