About The Position

American Excelsior, located in Rice Lake Wisconsin since 1907, operates the biggest excelsior mill in the country and we are looking for someone to join our team! We are looking for a 2nd shift Baler Operator to work 3:30 pm - 2:30 am Monday - Thursday and 1:30 pm - 10:30 pm on Mandatory Fridays. This position pays $25.66 completion of the 30 day probationary period. The baler operator is responsible for running a wood fiber baler to manufacture bales weighing between 40 - 80 pounds, with most bales averaging 70 pounds. Preference given to candidates with small square baler experience.

Requirements

Candidate must have basic math skills.
Candidate must have basic computer skills to record production numbers into a computer system.
CANDIDATE MUST SUCCESSFULLY PASS PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL, JOB FUNCTIONALITY TEST, and DRUG AND ALCOHOL TEST.

Nice To Haves

Preference given to candidates with small square baler experience.

Responsibilities

Blows out machine before start up and between cuts to insure clean product.
Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine.
Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.
Makes minor adjustments such as turning handles to increase or decrease bale weights.
Inspects bale to ensure that fibers and overall finished product dimensions are made according to specifications.
Removes bale from baler and loads product unto pallets or hand carts.
Weighs bale, records weights, records bales made per hour and records start and stop times on production sheet.
Stencils or writes information on tags such as cut and grade number and writes weight on tag and positions tag on bale wire or presses buttons to send scale information to computer program.
Unplugs hoppers and cyclones.
Replenishes baling wire when necessary.
Removes broken and replaces new shear pins when necessary.
Announces break downs to supervisor.
