The Baking Assistant is an entry-level bakery role responsible for supporting daily production through hands-on preparation, baking, and cleaning tasks. This position works closely with bakery leadership to execute recipes accurately, maintain food safety standards, and ensure products are prepared consistently and on time. This role is ideal for someone with basic baking or cooking experience who is dependable, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. The Baking Assistant plays an important role in maintaining quality, efficiency, and organization within the bakery.

Requirements

  • Ability to follow recipes, instructions, and standard operating procedures accurately.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and cleanliness standards (training provided).
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • Willingness to learn and grow within the bakery team.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a fast-faced environment
  • Ability to Lift, push, or pull up to 50lbs regularly
  • Ability to bend, reach, squat, kneel, and perform repetitive motions
  • Comfortable working weekends, holidays, and overnight up until 2-4am.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hours per week
  • Availability on Sundays and holidays as required
  • California Food Handler Certification (must obtain upon hire)
  • Completion of pre-employment assessments (sent via email)
  • Participation in a video interview as part of the hiring process

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1 year of baking, cooking, or commercial kitchen experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients, doughs, batters, and fillings according to established recipes and instructions.
  • Assist with baking, cooling, finishing, and packaging products as assigned.
  • Follow production schedules to ensure timely completion of daily baking needs.
  • Accurately measure ingredients and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and health department guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations, tools, and equipment.
  • Monitor product quality and notify leadership of any concerns or inconsistencies.
  • Practice proper food handling, storage, labeling, and rotation (FIFO).
  • Work cooperatively with bakery team members and leadership.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully during shifts.
  • Maintain punctuality, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
  • Be receptive to coaching, feedback, and ongoing training.
  • Assist with daily and weekly cleaning tasks, including dishes, surfaces, floors, and equipment.
  • Follow closing and sanitation checklists as assigned.
  • Support overall organization and readiness for the next production day.
