Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation recommendations.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls professionally; resolve customer complaints and escalate to the Store Director as needed.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques through telephone interactions, in‑store announcements, and direct conversations with customers.
  • Possess full knowledge of duties performed by all department employees; oversee and assist with product preparation and display.
  • Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques.
  • Maintain bakery case cleanliness, visual appeal, and appropriate inventory levels.
  • Ensure proper cleanliness, sanitation, and appearance of all bakery areas and equipment; maintain a safe work environment.
  • Ensure correct temperature maintenance during preparation, display, and storage.
  • Maintain knowledge of opening and closing procedures for the bakery department.
  • Build bakery displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled product.
  • Ensure work areas and department spaces remain clean and organized.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and compliance with code‑dating requirements.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to bakery employees; ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales techniques, and record‑keeping procedures.
  • Identify and develop high‑potential employees for advancement opportunities.
  • Monitor employee productivity and evaluate overall performance.
  • Initiate personnel actions, including interviews, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary measures.
  • Ensure adherence to bakery standards and department requirements.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every four weeks.
  • Control inventory to ensure proper product quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain inventory levels per division directives.
  • Stock and rotate product; organize and maintain cooler and freezer conditions.
  • Control shrink and monitor cost‑effectiveness.
  • Perform receiving duties, including breaking down loads, verifying orders, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, and stocking.
  • Adhere to temperature guidelines, storage requirements, and proper packaging procedures.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate departmental records.
