Pay Transparency: Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay, PTO/Vacation pay, paid holidays, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis. For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with a focus on fast, friendly service.
  • Assist customers with product suggestions, special orders, and food preparation recommendations.
  • Answer and respond to incoming calls; resolve customer concerns and escalate to the Store Director as needed.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via phone, in‑store intercom, and direct customer interaction.
  • Oversee and assist with all department duties including preparation and display of bakery products.
  • Implement proper and efficient product preparation and packaging techniques.
  • Maintain bakery case cleanliness, visual appeal, and appropriate inventory levels.
  • Ensure cleanliness, sanitation, and proper appearance of the bakery area, equipment, and work environment.
  • Maintain required temperature controls during all phases of preparation, display, and storage.
  • Ensure proper signing, retail labeling compliance, and adherence to federal and state regulations.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees to ensure proper coverage and high service levels.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales procedures, and record‑keeping expectations.
  • Identify and develop high‑potential employees for advancement opportunities.
  • Monitor employee productivity and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Initiate personnel actions including interviewing, transfers, promotions, and disciplinary measures.
  • Plan daily operations and monitor production processes for efficiency and profitability.
  • Follow opening and closing procedures for the department.
  • Build displays, rotate inventory, and discard outdated or spoiled product.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all work areas, sales floor, cooler, and freezer.
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Prepare sales and inventory reports; support physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Control inventory to maintain required product quantity, quality, and freshness in accordance with division directives.
  • Stock and rotate product; maintain and organize cooler and freezer areas.
  • Control shrink and cost by following proper handling, storage, and rotation practices.
  • Perform receiving duties including breaking down loads, verifying invoices, inspecting quality, reporting shortages, stocking, and rotating product.
  • Follow proper temperature guidelines, storage requirements, and packaging techniques.
  • Complete and monitor required logs and paperwork including daily log sheets, Production Charts, Sales and Labor reports, and other compliance documentation.
  • Attend and participate in sales meetings; communicate sales goals, department performance, and opportunities to staff.
  • Ensure compliance with company code dating policies and all regulatory temperature and labeling requirements.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and sanitation in all bakery areas including prep space, equipment, cooler, freezer, and sales floor.
  • Implement emergency procedures during equipment or software malfunctions.
  • Perform all job duties safely, accurately, and with honesty and integrity.
  • Perform other necessary and required duties as assigned.
