The Bakery Manager oversees all operations within the Bakery Department, ensuring high‑quality product production, excellent merchandising, strong in‑stock conditions, sanitation compliance, and outstanding customer service. This role leads the bakery team, manages labor and inventory, and drives sales and profitability through effective planning and execution. Requirements

  • Prior bakery, food production, or retail department leadership experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of bakery production processes (baking, mixing, decorating, proofing).
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and lift/move products as required.
  • Flexible availability including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and oversee daily production schedules for donuts, breads, cakes, pastries, and specialty items.
  • Ensure all products meet company standards for freshness, taste, appearance, and quality.
  • Verify proper baking, icing, decorating, proofing, and packaging procedures.
  • Maintain accurate shrink logs and minimize waste through proper production forecasting.
  • Execute all merchandising standards, including planograms, promotional displays, and seasonal sets.
  • Ensure cases, displays, and self‑service areas are clean, attractive, and fully stocked.
  • Maintain accurate signage, pricing, and product labeling.
  • Prepare appealing product displays to support weekly ad and promotional activity.
  • Order supplies, ingredients, and finished goods based on movement trends and sales forecasts.
  • Maintain optimal inventory levels to support customer demand while minimizing shrink.
  • Conduct regular inventories and verify accuracy of product counts and backstock.
  • Manage store‑baked items, thaw‑and‑sell schedules, and vendor ordering as applicable.
  • Ensure customers receive friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful service in the bakery.
  • Assist with custom orders, cake designs, and special requests.
  • Resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally.
  • Promote a welcoming department atmosphere that encourages repeat business.
  • Lead, train, and develop bakery associates in production, safety, and merchandising standards.
  • Manage scheduling, labor allocation, and task delegation.
  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and reinforcement of company expectations.
  • Support onboarding, cross‑training, and skills development for new and existing associates.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards, including proper product handling and storage.
  • Maintain clean work areas, equipment, and production spaces in alignment with regulatory standards.
  • Conduct temperature logs, equipment checks, and product rotation according to policy.
  • Enforce all safety procedures and maintain a safe environment for associates and customers.
