About The Position

The Bakery Manager at SpartanNash is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the bakery department in a retail store. This role includes managing staff, ensuring product quality and freshness, maintaining inventory, and meeting company goals and performance indicators. The manager will also implement company policies, train associates, and ensure compliance with food safety and operational standards.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent (GED) required.
  • Two years of retail experience preferred.
  • One year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good organization, prioritization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong leadership abilities in a hands-on environment.
  • Good strategic planning and business acumen skills.
  • Knowledge of retail store operations and management systems.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to communicate in Spanish is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day activities of the bakery department operations.
  • Order and maintain inventory while ensuring product freshness and quality.
  • Review and validate received orders for quality and condition.
  • Manage a team responsible for stocking, production, and quality assurance.
  • Maintain familiarity with all products in the department and store.
  • Communicate and execute the weekly and period Flight Plan to company expectations.
  • Implement work schedules and manage payroll expenses for the department.
  • Model core values and competencies of the company.
  • Manage staffing, training, performance management, and career development of associates.
  • Develop and monitor department goals and forecasts.
  • Participate in daily huddles and manager meetings as required.
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked department following company standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and safety guidelines throughout the store.
  • Develop and implement plans to meet company goals and key performance indicators.
