The Bakery Manager is responsible for exemplifying and ensuring strong customer service in all aspects of the job while directing and controlling the operation of the Bakery Department to achieve sales and profit objectives. This role requires a proactive approach to managing the daily operations of the bakery, ensuring compliance with product quality, sanitation, safety, and security requirements. The Bakery Manager will conduct daily inspections of all bakery sections and initiate corrective measures as necessary. In addition to overseeing bakery duties such as proofing, baking, decorating, slicing, and packaging fresh bakery products, the manager will implement effective promotional and seasonal displays, prevent shrinkage, and control expenses. Accurate completion and monitoring of daily logs, purchase reports, and sales and labor reports are essential. The manager will also be responsible for ordering, checking, receiving, and controlling inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness, while maintaining inventory levels according to division directives. The Bakery Manager will ensure that bakery product quality and decorating standards are met, and will oversee proper merchandising of products, complying with retail labeling laws and company policies. Customer engagement is a key aspect of this role, including taking and filling special orders, making product suggestions, and handling customer relations. The manager will also supervise, motivate, and train bakery department personnel, ensuring adequate coverage and service levels while communicating sales goals and performance to associates. Compliance with company policies and procedures is critical, as is the ability to resolve associate complaints and report any serious policy violations to the Store Director. This position requires strong leadership and communication skills, as well as a thorough understanding of bakery standards, food safety, and sanitation procedures. The Bakery Manager must be able to operate various equipment and software related to bakery operations and maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions.
