About The Position

The Bakery Manager is responsible for overseeing the operations of the Bakery Department, ensuring exceptional customer service, and achieving sales and profit objectives. This role involves managing daily operations, maintaining product quality, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards while leading and training staff.

Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and good leadership abilities.
  • Proven ability to manage people and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Knowledge of bakery standards, perishability, food safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to operate computer software and electronic ordering devices.
  • Understanding of overall company practices and bakery department policies.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver objects up to approximately 40 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and control the operation of the Bakery Department to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Plan, organize, and direct day-to-day operations of the Bakery Department.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all bakery sections and initiate corrective measures for compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Oversee and assist with bakery duties such as proofing, baking, decorating, slicing, and packaging products.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Prevent shrink and control expenses.
  • Maintain accurate records including daily log sheets, purchase reports, and sales and labor reports.
  • Order, check, receive, and control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity and quality.
  • Ensure proper merchandising of products and compliance with retail labeling laws and company policies.
  • Assist customers with special orders and engage in suggestive selling.
  • Ensure cleanliness and sanitation of the sales floor and work areas.
  • Supervise, motivate, and train bakery personnel, and manage associate performance.
