Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; some college strongly preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in full bakery operations, at least one year in a supervisory role.
  • Completion or participation in a management training program.
  • Previous experience in a grocery retail setting.
  • Knowledge of proper preparation and baking methods unique to certain products.
  • Knowledgeable in the use of industrial baking equipment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy items and stand for extended periods.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Knowledge of grocery products, merchandising techniques, and inventory management.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Bakery and Coffee Bar Department staff to ensure productivity and excellent customer service.
  • Ensure all necessary training is completed.
  • Develop weekly schedule for department staff while managing hours to ensure maximum profitability while maintaining quality service.
  • Comply with and implement safety policies and procedures, store rules and company policies and all applicable local, state and federal regulations.
  • Monitor sales volume, inspect store inventory levels and maintain in-store promotional materials during promotional periods.
  • Order product based on sales trends and inventory stock.
  • Track and analyze product sales trends; utilize information to develop sales projections and reports for management and to determine daily production volume.
  • Control merchandising to maximize product movement, consumer demand and profitability and control stock levels based on products' sales history.
  • Monitor inventory for spoilage and ensure proper rotation of merchandise.
  • Ensure that foods and products are adequately stocked and faced at all times.
  • Ensure that the department is in compliance with OSHA and Health Department standards; maintain HAACP program standards; utilize proper food handling techniques and safety precautions.
  • Respond appropriately to all customer interactions, providing excellent customer service.
  • Assist customers with selected products from the bakery case; provide samples to customers.
  • Receive and unload merchandise.
  • Assist with Clerk duties as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and health and safety regulations.
  • Follow safety and sanitation guidelines to ensure a clean and safe working environment.
  • Embrace new challenges and be a flexible team player, taking on responsibilities as needed.
