Responsibilities

  • Directs and controls the operation of the Bakery Department to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Champions corporate and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs day-to-day operations of the Bakery Department.
  • Conducts daily inspections of all bakery sections and initiates corrective measures to ensure compliance with product quality and safety standards.
  • Oversees and assists with all bakery department duties such as proofing, baking, decorating, slicing, and packaging fresh bakery products.
  • Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Prevents shrink and controls expenses.
  • Accurately completes and maintains daily log sheets, purchase reports, and sales and labor reports.
  • Orders, checks, receives, and controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stocks and rotates product, maintaining organized bakery department cooler and freezer.
  • Conducts periodic inventories and processes administrative paperwork.
  • Ensures that bakery product quality and decorating standards are met.
  • Complies with retail labeling laws and company policies.
  • Handles customer relations and engages in suggestive selling.
  • Monitors daily log sheets and sales reports.
  • Attends required training and sales meetings.
  • Supervises, motivates, directs, trains, and participates in the hiring of bakery personnel.
  • Communicates sales goals and department performance to associates.
  • Resolves associate complaints and reports actions to the Store Director.
