About The Position

Requirements

  • Requires working knowledge of all job duties including Cake Decorator, Baker, and Sales Associate.
  • Requires strong communication skills and good leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage people and maintain a professional demeanor.
  • Knowledge of product variety, bakery standards, perishability, food safety, and sanitation procedures.
  • Ability to operate computer software and electronic ordering devices.
  • Requires knowledge of basic math and weights and measures.
  • Extensive working knowledge of profit and loss statements.

Responsibilities

  • Directs and controls the operation of the Bakery Department to achieve sales and profit objectives.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs day-to-day operations of the Bakery Department.
  • Conducts daily inspections of all Bakery department sections and initiates corrective measures.
  • Oversees and assists with all bakery department duties such as proofing, baking, decorating, slicing, and packaging fresh bakery products.
  • Implements effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • Prevents shrink and controls expenses.
  • Maintains and monitors daily log sheets, purchase reports, and sales and labor reports.
  • Orders, checks, receives, and controls inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness.
  • Stocks and rotates product, maintaining organized bakery department cooler and freezer.
  • Conducts periodic inventories and maintains accurate department records.
  • Ensures bakery product quality and compliance with baking and decorating standards.
  • Complies with retail labeling laws and health and food safety standards.
  • Handles customer relations and engages in suggestive selling.
  • Supervises, motivates, directs, trains, and participates in hiring Bakery Department personnel.
  • Communicates sales goals and department performance to associates.
  • Resolves associate complaints and reports actions to the Store Director.
