Walt Churchill's Market is hiring a Part-Time Bakery Clerk for our Perrysburg, OH location. Job Summary: The Bakery Clerk reports to the Bakery Manager and provides exceptional service when greeting and assisting customers at the Bakery counter, on the sales floor, and on the phone. Preparation, production, and cleaning are also key aspects. Duties and responsibilities vary, depending on the employee's Bakery Clerk classification - 1, 2, or 3.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate clearly
  • Comfortable working with the public and greeting, speaking with, and assisting customers
  • Attention to detail, ensuring duties are completed correctly and on time
  • Must have evening, weekend, and holiday availability
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school education
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, and reaching
  • Occasional instances of pushing, pulling, and squatting
  • Ability to withstand working in both hot and cold environments, e.g. the Bakery Department and walk-in freezer
  • Must be able to frequently lift 10-30 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds

Nice To Haves

  • Previous bakery experience, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers promptly, answering questions, and assisting with purchases
  • Package, wrap, price, and merchandise Bakery department products
  • Maintain product knowledge of Bakery service case items
  • Properly date items, check dates on all products to ensure freshness, and properly rotate stock
  • Accurately record phone orders in a pleasant, courteous manner
  • Basic decorating of cookies and cupcakes
  • Stock bakery supplies to ensure proper packaging of Bakery products
  • Maintain general sanitation practices, food safety practices, and food storage practices according to store and health department standards
  • Cleaning duties include, but are not limited to: sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, and washing dishes
  • Communicate with Bakery Management when product or supplies are low
  • Keep sales floor and shelves full, properly rotate and face product, and organize as needed
  • Maintain donut case throughout shift, removing empty pans, tidying, cleaning, and filling supplies (bags, boxes, etc.)
  • Work efficiently to meet the needs of the Bakery Department
  • Safely use equipment such as bread slicer, oven, mixer, and dishwasher (Bakery Clerk 2 or 3)
  • Follow recipes and assist with preparing cookie doughs, pastries, muffins, pies, and cupcakes (Bakery Clerk 2 or 3)
  • In absence of Bakery Manager, provide guidance to other clerks in merchandising product and prioritizing duties (Bakery Clerk 3)
  • Train new Bakery Clerks to be successful in their position and as a team member (Bakery Clerk 3)
  • May be responsible for ordering specialty products as directed by the Bakery Manager (Bakery Clerk 3)
