About The Position

The Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for preparing and baking cookies, bread, and muffins using proven ingredients in a professional kitchen. This role involves assisting the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods. A key aspect of the position is providing extraordinary customer service in a fast-paced and friendly environment, ensuring that Bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented, while always maintaining the cleanliness of the Bakery department area. The role also involves helping customers make healthy choices in one of the fastest-growing retailers.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
1-2 years Bakery experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
Be dependable and reliable
Ability to work flexible schedule that changes; including night, weekends, and holidays
Outgoing and friendly behavior
Positive attitude and the ability to interact with our customers
Good communication skills
Ability to take direction and participate in a team environment
Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
Ability to vertically transfer trays up to 5 lbs., from 7” to 64” for up to 10 hours
Ability to vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs., from 5” to 36”, for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance

Responsibilities

Preparing and packaging all baked goods
Assisting the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods
Providing a high level of customer service
Ensuring that Bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented
Ensuring cleanliness of the Bakery department area
Maintaining clean, safe, and sanitary bakery area and equipment including cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, and sweeping
Stocking, filling, facing, and ensuring pricing accuracy while examining the rotation of all bakery products and discarding outdated or spoiled items
Receiving, inspecting, and logging products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
Answering phones and taking special orders
Performing general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
Operating and using knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
Using knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
Adhering to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
Achieving and maintaining a Food Handlers permit
