About The Position

The Bakery Clerk at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for preparing and baking a variety of goods such as cookies, bread, and muffins using proven ingredients. This role involves working in a professional kitchen environment and is centered around delivering an extraordinary customer service experience in a fast-paced and friendly setting. The clerk plays a crucial role in helping customers make healthy choices. Key responsibilities include assisting the Bakery Manager with all aspects of baked goods, from preparation and baking to packaging, pricing, and merchandising. The position also requires maintaining a high level of cleanliness and sanitation within the Bakery department, ensuring products are properly presented, and managing inventory rotation.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or equivalent
1-2 years Bakery experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience
Be dependable and reliable
Ability to work flexible schedule that changes; including night, weekends, and holidays
Have and show an outgoing and friendly behavior
Have a positive attitude and the ability to interact with customers
Have good communication skills
Ability to take direction and participate in a team environment
Ability to stand for up to 3 hours continuously, for a total of 8 hours per shift
Ability to vertically transfer trays up to 5 lbs., from 7” to 64” for up to 10 hours
Ability to vertically/horizontally transfer items up to 40 lbs., from 5” to 36”, for a distance up to 36 feet for up to 10 hours without mechanical assistance
Achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit

Responsibilities

Prepare and package all baked goods (cookies, bread, and muffins)
Assist the Bakery Manager in preparing, baking, packaging, pricing, and merchandising all baked goods
Provide a high level of customer service
Ensure that Bakery items are properly prepared, packaged, and presented
Ensure cleanliness of the Bakery department area
Maintain clean, safe, and sanitary bakery area and equipment including cleaning shelves and products, keeping floors free of spills, removing hazardous debris from floor, and sweeping
Stock, fill, face, and ensure pricing accuracy while examining the rotation of all bakery products and discarding outdated or spoiled items
Receive, inspect, and log products for accuracy of shipment, temperature, and quality
Answer phones and take special orders
Perform general housekeeping in the department; clean and sanitize work area (including tables, floor, walls, cases, cooler, freezer, etc.)
Operate and use knives, scales, wrappers, compactors, garbage disposals, pallet jacks, and hand trucks as needed
Use knowledge of scales and weight measures to accurately weigh and label products
Adhere to all safety, health, and Weights and Measures regulations
Achieve and maintain a Food Handlers permit
