About The Position

The Bakery Cake Designer is responsible for decorating bakery items and assisting customers with their bakery orders both over the phone and in person at the store. This role ensures a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient customer service to customers and team members. The position requires a commitment to customer satisfaction and teamwork, as well as adherence to company policies and sanitation procedures.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience.
  • Six months or less of similar or related work experience.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.

Responsibilities

  • Provides prompt, efficient and friendly customer service by exhibiting caring, concern and patience in all customer interactions.
  • Greets customers in a friendly manner and makes an effort to learn their names.
  • Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading or unloading heavy items.
  • Answers the telephone promptly and provides friendly service, including taking product orders.
  • Takes customer orders at the Bakery counter.
  • Works with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
  • Checks orders for the day and sets up a timeline and production schedule.
  • Decorates bakery items in a timely manner and keeps current on new designs and trends.
  • Ensures department standards are met and checks cake orders for details.
  • Orders supplies for the decorating area and checks off the order.
  • Delivers products and sets up wedding cakes on site.
  • Communicates with the bakery manager regarding displays, weekly ads, and special needs.
  • Checks product dates, pulls cases for work, and lists items to fill or replace.
  • Develops bakery orders for bakers on a daily basis.
  • Tracks daily retail production and identifies tasks to be completed with co-workers.
  • Operates as a lead worker with part-time or other employees.
  • Participates in employee cross training.
  • Understands and practices proper sanitation procedures.
