The Baker is responsible for producing baked goods to be sold in the Bakery to include but not be limited to muffins, danish, scones, croissants, and breads. Hours for the position will be Monday 5am-1pm, Tuesday-Friday 3:30am- 12:00pm, and some weekends required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of an associate degree in related field.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a professional bakery or kitchen setting with knowledge of artisan breads and pastries as well as basic mixing skills (cookies, scones, quick breads).
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to hear and speak well enough to communicate with customers, students, faculty, and staff face to face, and maintain a pleasant and inviting environment for all.
  • Must be able to produce products using standard and non-standard recipes.
  • Must have basic pastry skills
  • Must be able to work with others and supervise interns in the production of like items
  • Must be able to evaluate product errors and make corrections to prevent waste.
  • Must maintain a proper inventory of stock items for production of retail/wholesale products.
  • Must be able to keep simple records.
  • Must be able to conduct inventory and report needed supplies.
  • Must maintain proper sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Follows recipes and production sheets accurately
  • Responsible for sanitation.
  • Maintains proper levels of inventory for the display cases and customer orders.
  • Supervision of interns that are assigned to their station.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
