About The Position

The Baker is responsible for producing consistent, high quality fresh pasta, baked goods, confections, and other dessert products, at the best possible price; emphasizing non-harmful products that have a low impact on the environment and supports local suppliers and producers.

Requirements

  • Previous prepared foods experience preferred
  • Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service by projecting a friendly, outgoing presence and maintaining a respectful demeanor at all times
  • Ability to handle multiple demands, remain calm, think quickly, prioritize effectively, and problem solve within established guidelines
  • Ability to work well with others in a cooperative environment where teamwork, compassion and constant communication are essential
  • Ability to meet expectations of regular, predictable attendance
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, and weekends
  • Ability to maintain current food handler card
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Follows recipes to prepare and assemble ingredients to create baked goods
  • Ensures baked goods are consistent in quality and quantity
  • Creates or follows daily list of must-have products
  • Preps ingredients as necessary
  • Adheres to all food safety procedures
  • Maintains integrity of tried and true recipes
  • Ensures accuracy of items that are prepared so that product and signage always match
  • Ensures food is readily available for the customer
  • Follows appropriate time table for preparing and stocking bakery case
  • Adheres to all time goals applicable to position
  • Actively participates in all food rotation program, adhering to pull dates and schedules.
  • Makes sure proper signage is available for items
  • Utilizes all closing and opening checklist
  • Meets or exceeds all Co-op and health department standards to achieve safe food handling
  • Keeps shelves of stored food clean and organized to reduce food waste
  • Keeps work station clean and sanitary, including stovetops, ovens, countertops storage shelves, and walk-in shelves
  • Maintains safety standards and reports safety issues immediately
  • Assist in the maintenance of kitchen related equipment, as needed
  • Participates in cleaning projects, as needed
  • Understands special diet needs and which dishes to recommend for which need
  • Knows what dishes taste like and is able to make recommendations when asked
  • Receives product as needed
  • Assists in inventory
  • Assists in training Bakery workers as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned
