About The Position

The Baker is responsible for producing bread and pastry products while assisting with bakery and pastry ordering and inventory control. This role emphasizes exceptional customer service and product knowledge, contributing to a positive and collaborative team environment.

Requirements

• Previous food service, retail, or grocery experience required.
• Previous retail bakery experience preferred.
• Knowledge and/or experience working with bread and/or pastry products required.
• Basic ability to read and interpret documents required.
• Basic math and computation skills required.
• Skills to read, understand, and follow through on verbal and written instructions required.
• Ability to speak, read, and understand English preferred.

Responsibilities

• Orders bakery and pastry products and ingredients according to anticipated sales.
• Maintains awareness of current ads, promotions, holidays, and events.
• Maintains professional vendor relationships.
• Ensures the bakery area is clean, attractive, and adheres to merchandising standards.
• Builds displays and arranges department products for attractive presentations.
• Stocks, rotates, and faces products with attention to quality and expiration dates.
• Receives and unloads merchandise; checks quality, count, and condition.
• Maintains accurate pricing and signage that meet merchandising standards.
• Ensures customer special orders are accurately placed and delivered.
• Complies with company organic standards.
• Slices, packages, labels, and merchandises bakery products.
• Prepares coffee and other beverages to customer specifications.
• Demonstrates excellent knowledge of products in the department.
• Partners with department management to train department clerks in bakery tasks.
• Trains to gain proficiency in bakery production tasks.
• Coordinates with support teams to plan and conduct in-store tastings.
• Follows company procedures for processing invoices, transfers, and credits.
• Handles damaged and spoiled product according to company policy.
• Maintains cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies.
• Participates in inventories.
• Demonstrates awareness of trends in the industry.
• Notifies department manager of any situations affecting customer service or safety.
• Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
