About The Position

The Bait and Tackle Supervisor plays a critical role in managing the daily operations of a bait and tackle shop, ensuring that customers receive expert advice and high-quality products to enhance their fishing experiences. This position involves overseeing inventory management, staff scheduling, and maintaining a clean and organized retail environment. The supervisor will lead a team of sales associates, providing training and support to ensure excellent customer service and product knowledge. Additionally, the role requires collaboration with suppliers to maintain stock levels and introduce new products that meet customer demand. Ultimately, the Bait and Tackle Supervisor is responsible for driving sales growth while fostering a welcoming atmosphere for both novice and experienced anglers.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous retail or supervisory experience, preferably in a fishing, outdoor, or sporting goods environment.
• Basic knowledge of fishing equipment, bait types, and tackle products.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

• Experience managing inventory and ordering supplies.
• Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and retail software.
• Certification in first aid or safety training.
• Passion for fishing and outdoor recreational activities.
• Experience in sales or marketing within the outdoor retail industry.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily store operations including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and customer service.
• Supervise, train, and motivate sales staff to deliver knowledgeable and friendly assistance to customers.
• Maintain accurate inventory records, order bait, tackle, and fishing supplies, and coordinate with vendors to ensure timely deliveries.
• Ensure the store is clean, organized, and compliant with health and safety regulations.
• Develop promotional strategies and participate in community events to increase store visibility and customer engagement.
