About The Position

MGS provides aviation services at various airports in the US: Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Orlando, Virginia, Atlanta, Baltimore and Las Vegas. MGS has immediate openings for Baggage Handler at Dulles International Airport (IAD). Summary/Objective Baggage Handler may be located in different areas assign by the airline: placing the bags in the assigned area at the customs area, placing bags on the conveyor belt behind the ticket counter or transport them to different locations or areas, for the airline. Exhibiting exceptional customer service skills. Ensure the safety of property and people.

Requirements

  • Must exhibit good customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • As a condition of employment, the employee must successfully complete a background investigation and a post-offer/pre-employment drug/alcohol test.
  • Must be able to read and understand company and airport procedures and instructions.
  • Must be able to handle the pressure of working with high volume general public (constantly to occasionally depending on assignment)
  • Must be able to stand the entire shift, and pull, push, and lift weight up to 70 pounds.
  • Must be eligible for CBP seal and pass the criminal background check to obtain the airport ID.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • The agent must be in communication with the supervisor on duty at all times.
  • Baggage Handler will be placed at the customs area to assist with the airline luggage for the passenger to pick it up.
  • Porters/Baggage Handler working behind the Ticket Counter: will stand behind the airline counter awaiting baggage. They will aid the passenger service agent or airline employees in weighing the bags, adding a bag tag, and placing bags onto the baggage belt. Will make sure no bags are left behind at the counter.
  • Prevents losses and damage by reporting irregularities.
  • Handling all baggage with care and safety.
  • Use of the time system to record all punches and time worked.
