About The Position

Bag Screening Attendants serve as the first point of contact for visitors entering the Garden. They conduct safe, efficient, and customer service–oriented bag inspections in accordance with Garden policies and security best practices. Attendants must maintain a professional demeanor, effectively communicate policies, and appropriately escalate concerns.

Requirements

Candidate must posses and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License.
Candidate must posses and maintain a valid New York State Security Guard License from the Division of Licensing Services.
Must have a minimum of two years full time experience in security or related work.
In possession of a High School Diploma or G.E.D.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations.

Responsibilities

Greet all visitors courteously and provide clear instructions on bag screening procedures.
Conduct visual and physical inspections of bags, packages, strollers, and other personal items.
Identify and manage prohibited items per Garden procedures.
Maintain situational awareness and report suspicious behavior immediately.
Use deescalation techniques during conflicts.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of screening areas.
Operate handheld metal detectors or other issued screening equipment.
Assist with crowd control during peak visitation and special events.
