About The Position

The Backroom Manager at Hy-Vee is responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service while managing the backroom operations. This role involves receiving products, verifying invoices, and delivering products to the appropriate departments in a safe and efficient manner. The Backroom Manager is expected to maintain a clean and orderly backroom, ensure the integrity of products, and coordinate the receipt of controlled items. The position requires a strong focus on customer satisfaction and teamwork, as well as adherence to company policies and guidelines.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent experience.
• Six months to one year of similar or related experience.
• Ability to carry out detailed instructions and deal with concrete variables.
• Ability to perform simple addition and subtraction.
• Must be physically able to exert up to 100 pounds of force occasionally.

Nice To Haves

• Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service.
• Receives product and verifies invoices.
• Delivers product to the appropriate department.
• Assists customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, and loading/unloading heavy items.
• Answers the telephone promptly and provides helpful service.
• Plans, prepares, and adjusts work schedules for employees.
• Unloads products from trucks and ensures proper placement.
• Checks invoices for accuracy and signs vendor paperwork.
• Coordinates the receipt and lock-up of controlled items.
• Maintains cleanliness in the backroom and outside dock area.
• Keeps training certifications current, including forklift certifications.
• Works in a safe and efficient manner to reduce product damage.
