This position reports directly to the Illinois Background & Enrollment Manager and is responsible for the input, tracking, and reporting of all necessary background checks mandated by the State of Illinois. The role involves a significant amount of data management, requiring the specialist to maintain accurate records and ensure timely submissions of various background check forms, including Health Care Registry, CANTS, and Sex Offender Checks, among others. In this role, the Background Specialist will spend approximately 65% of their time inputting and tracking background information, ensuring that all contractual requirements are met. This includes managing the submission of CANTS forms to the Personal Support Worker and tracking their progress with the DCFS agency. The specialist will also be responsible for notifying employers about any outstanding forms and maintaining the Illinois Background spreadsheet. Additionally, the role requires participation in a consumer service phone queue, where the specialist must maintain a high call retrieval rate of 97% or higher. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. A high school diploma or GED is required, with a preference for candidates holding an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience in service coordination, enrollments, or customer service within the insurance, financial services, or non-profit sectors is highly desirable. The position demands a positive attitude, emotional intelligence, and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
