About The Position

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of three years of work experience conducting background investigations in law enforcement or the military.
• Ability to conduct effective interviews and maintain thorough documentation.
• Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
• Demonstrated knowledge of background investigative techniques and resources.
• Technical skills to use Microsoft Office 365 for report writing.

Responsibilities

• Conduct pre-employment personal background investigations of potential police department employees.
• Determine the veracity of information provided by candidates in their personal history statements.
• Contact personal and professional references to assess candidates' suitability for employment.
• Establish additional references and contacts to gather comprehensive information about candidates.
• Travel to locations listed as residences and places of employment for interviews.
• Solicit information from candidates through questionnaires for inclusion in final reports.
• Maintain thorough documentation of all background investigation activities.
• Collect personal documents for verification of authenticity.
• Take candidate fingerprints for criminal history checks.
• Complete and submit quality reports on findings of background investigations.
